Goal: By the end of the lesson series you will be able to write a short autobiography describing actions and achievements of how you became famous, using suitable grammar in 75-100 words.

What is an autobiography?

Warm-up exercise 

You get 3 parts of different autobiographies

Read the texts and find out whose autobiography it is. 

Write down your answer. If you don't know the name, write down what the profession is might be. 

After 5 minutes, discuss your answers with your neigbour

How to write a good autobiography?

1. Look at the examples: Which one is a good example and which one is a bad example? 

2. What makes it a good or bad example?

The assignment

Write an autobiography:

It is ten years from now. You have become famous, and you have decided to write a short autobiography. Include the following:

- How you became famous

- What you have achieved (for example: awards, success, money, friends)

- Who your influences were when you were younger

Write between 75-100 words. Use the past simple and present perfect.

Activity 1: 

1. write down 3 sentences using the past simple and/or present perfect. Each sentence should have at least 1 word from the vocabulary list.

2. Swap your answers with your neighbour's. Analyse the sentences and give feedback while using the checklist. 

Activity 2:

1. Look at the examples again and highlight the parts that are in the checklist. 

2. If there are points missing out, wrtie down what needs to be added.

Activity 2:

3. Make groups of 3 and discuss your answers.

4. Discuss the answers with the whole group. 

Draft version time! 

Write a draft version of your own autobiography on a piece of paper. Ask questions if you get stuck in the process!
