De gerund is een vorm van het werkwoord (stam + ing) die gebruikt wordt als zelfstandig naamwoord.
Use after verbs
To love: I love riding my bike
to like: He doesn't like writing emails.
to hate: I hate travelling by bus

In alle andere gevallen gebruik je een zogeheten infinitief (to + hele werkwoord) na de genoemde werkwoorden want, hope, ask, expect, promise, decide, plan en refuse:
