VERBS

Present Simple

The present simple is formed using the root form of the verb and s/es when talking about he/she/it (verb (+s/es))

We use the present simple when:

 -an action is a habit

 -when it happens regularly

 

Present Continuous

The present continuous is formed using a form of to be and the continuous form of the verb (am/are/is + verb + ing)

We use the present continuous when:

- an action is happening now and will continue in the future 

- will happen in the near future.

Past Simple

The past simple is formed using either the irregular verb or the past tense base form (verb + d/ed)

We use the past simple to talk about:

- something that happened once or multiple times in the past and has stopped.

Present Perfect

The present perfect is formed using a form of have and the past participle of the verb 

(have/has + verb + ed)

We use the present perfect:

- for something that started in the past and continues in the present

- for something that happened in the past but is important in the present:

Future Tense

The future tense is created by using a form of will or going to and the base form of the verb 

(will + verb OR to be + going to + verb)

We use the future tense:

- to make offers and promises

- to talk about plans or intentions

- to make predictions
