Hamilton Reef | Perfectly situated in The Great Barrier Reef Hamilton Island offers an experience like no other: glorious weather, azure waters and awe-inspiring coral reefs. You can snorkel, scuba dive or swim off the reef and witness one of the world’s most spectacular natural wonders and its abundant array of ocean life.

Hill Inlet is a stunning spot located at the northern end of Whitehaven Beach. As the tide shifts, the white silica sand of Whitehaven Beach combined with the blue-green hues of the inlet blend seamlessly to create a swirling fusion of turquoise colours. Hill Inlet is best viewed from up high, whether it be from the lookout at Tongue Point or on a scenic flight.

Tourism Whitesundays
Cid Harbour | Cid Harbour is one of the largest harbours and one of the most popular places on the Whitsundays Islands. The best spot for a smooth and calm night under the stars. Offering a sheltered spot to spend the night and magnificent views, Cid Harbour is usually protected from strong winds. Its proximity to the mainland makes it perfect for spending a half-day exploring the west of Whitsunday Island.

Chalkie's Beach, Haslewood Island | Chalkie’s is one of only a handful of places in the Whitsundays that boasts that same beautiful, soft, white silica sand as Whitehaven Beach. Add to that a coral fringe at either end of beach and you have amazing location for diving, swimming, and bathing.

Slide 15 - Poll

(Click on your activity to find out what you have gained.)
You feel energized as you have not been affected by the warm weather. You also did what everybody else was doing, so you have said 'hi' to people on the other boats. You put your towel on the deck to dry.
Well Cinderella, you put everything back in its place. You know exactly where every item is.
Taking off the barnacles was an effective way to spend your time. You have also cleaned the dingy and tied it back to the boat. While jumping in and out of the water, you have said hi to people on neighbouring boats.
You have thorougly enjoyed your book. You feel well-rested and are relaxing in the cabin.
You have come to know many people on neighbouring boats. You like talking to John Haddock, for example, and you found out that he works as an emergency doctor.
This was fun, and on top of that, you have really connected with people on board.

Well done! You are ready for a new learning experience!

FORMATIVE
Watch this video on formative assessment. Click on one of the envelopes to see the question or task.
O no, you were stressed about your summative test and that did not help.. You are moving -1, because your teacher has just put a 5.0 in Magister.
You have worked your way up! Click on one of the envelopes to see the question or task.
Great news, you did well on your formative assignment! You move +1 step ahead in the learning process.
O dear, you went to soccer practice and binge-watched Netflix instead of studying for a test that counts for 20% or the year. You are three steps behind now.
It has all been for nothing! You failed your last tests of the year and your mark is too low to qualify for the next year. You have to start all over.
Put the phases of formative assessment according to Gulikers & Baartman (2017) in the right order:

e) onderwijs en leren aanpassen

Think of a formative students' white board assignment to go with one of the exam texts.
- why is the white board activity suitable for your assignment?
- how does it help to make learning visible?
Create a table with two columns: one with list of frequently made student mistakes regarding the exam text about garbage in Lebanon. Write possible, effective feedback in the next column.
Create a table with two columns: one with list of frequently made student mistakes regarding the exam text about robotics. Write possible, effective feedback in the next column.
Create a table with two columns: one with list of frequently made student mistakes regarding the exam text about YouTube celebrities. Write possible, effective feedback in the next column.
The final reading test!! You have prepared well and your mark improves +1. Move ahead!
What is the difference between summative and formative assessment?
True or false: there are no marks in formative assessment? Explain.
What is another term for formative assessment
Think of a formative assignment that would be beneficial for students to do at the start of one of the exam texts.
- explain how it helps to make the learning visible at the start of the reading process
- explain what you will do with the information
What are known positive effects of formative assessment?
