Adjectives
  • An adjective (bijvoeglijk naamwoord) gives information about a person, animal or thing.

  • Rule: The adjective comes before the word it gives information about.
  • Exception: with the verbs "am, is, are, look, seem" the adjective comes after the verb

Adverbs
There are 3 types of Adverbs (bijwoorden):
  • To say something about an action
  • To say how often something happens
  • To say how something happens

  • You can change an adjective to an adverb:
beautiful -> beautifully

Irregular Adverbs
Irregular Adverbs (onregelmatige bijwoorden) are Adjectives that don't change when turned into Adverbs

Example:
Hard -> Hard                                  Low -> Low
Long -> Long                                 Late -> Late
Fast -> Fast                                    Straight -> Straight

Writing a 'short' story
Step 3: Write a short story about your Super-Hero or Celebrity.
  • Use as many adjectives & adverbs as you can think of that make sense in your story.
  • 150 - 200 words.
  • On paper

Done? Switch stories with a classmate and make a list of all the adjectives & adverbs you can find in their story. Also write down the translations.
