Active to passive (step by step)
1. Find the direct object in the active sentence.
John has bought many houses.

2. Put DO at beginning of new sentence
Many houses ...

3. Find the verbs 
John has bought many houses.

4. Determine the tense of the verb phrase from the active sentence.

has bought = present perfect

5. Convert according to the tenses of the passive
has bought = have been bought

6. Rewrite the sentence.
Many houses have been bought (by John).

  • You use 'both' when talking about two persons, animals or things.
  • The noun becomes plural
  • You use 'each' with two or more persons, animals or things.
  • The noun stays singular
  • Example: 
  • He has a small tattoo on each arm.
  • Sarah watched both girls as they entered the room.

  • You use 'all, every and none' by three or more persons, animals or things.

Example: 
  • The suspect admitted to all charges.
  • A criminal burgled nearly every house in the street.
  • None of the missing jewels were recovered.
