Guidelines/"rules"
  1. When I am talking, you are silent.
  2. If a classmate is answering a question or reading a piece of text out loud, you listen in silence. If you interrupt, you can continue answering the question or reading the text next.
  3. During the time that you are doing your homework in class, you can  silently discuss the questions with your neighbour as long as I can hear the music in the background.

Do you have any guidelines/"rules" I have not yet stated that you find important?

Writing a forum post
Discussion board -> like a conversation, you are either starting the conversation with a certain argument or responding to what is being said:
  1. starting the conversation -> you make a certain point and give two/three arguments why your point is valid (use sources).
  2. responding -> you continue the conversation by either agreeing or disagreeing with what is being stated.
Ex.  I respectfully disagree with your statement, because... (disagreement +  why)
I definitely see your point, I also know someone... (agreement + adding arguments)
I do think you have a point, however.... (slight agreement + arguments to reconsider)

Language use:
  • You can be as informal as you like. However, if you are responding to a post try to mimic their writing style
  • Use ^^^ if you are responding to the post directly above yours.
  • You can use emojis if the topic allows it (a serious topic might not be helped by using emojis).
  • You can use contractions like isn't, haven't, it's, etc.
  • Always stay calm and polite. Try to avoid getting angry.
