Which is the best alternative in each situation?

A teenage girl wants her father to change his mind and let her go to an all-night party.

1. Are you quite sure you won't reconsider?
2. Just this once. Please!

It's an informal home situation, so no need to use formal persuasive language.

The manager of a sales department is trying to persuade his staff to work longer hours.

1. Couldn't you be persuaded to give it a try?
2. Come on, just do it for me.

A woman is trying to put an end to a small quarrel with a friend.

1. Surely the most sensible thing would be to take some independent advice?
2. Don't be like that. Please!

A businessman is trying to persuade fellow workers at a meeting.

1. You're a load of idiots if you can't understand what I'm driving at!
2. The best course of action would be to survey our markets for their reactions.

A father is trying to persuade his young son to swim the length of a pool.

1. Oh come on, have a try. It's not as hard as it looks.
2. It's in your own best interests to do what I suggest.
