Procedure:Station 1 - measuring using a graduated cylinder
Determine the amount of water in the graduated cylinders.
Read each of the two graduated cylinders carefully.
Write in Results the exact amount of water that the cylinders contain.
In the empty cylinder, put an exact amount of 21.5 mL of water.
After you have done this, ask the teacher or TOA to check the amount of water.
Station 2 - determining the mass by using a scale
Determine how much sand is in the beaker, using the scale.
Put an empty beaker on the scale and press the TARE button to set the scale on zero.
Add the sand of each of the beakers to determine the exact amount of sand.
Write your results down in Results.
Station 3 - explaining safety symbols
Look carefully at the safety symbols on the bottles you see on the table.
Make a drawing of the symbols, with the correct name under it, in Results.
Describe what the safety symbol means and what precautions you should take when using a substance that contains this symbol.
Station 4 - identifying lab materials
For each of the materials that you see on the table:
Make a drawing of the material and write down the name of the material under your drawing in Results.
Describe what the material is used for in the lab.
