- We use adjectives to say something about a noun (zelfstandig naamwoord)

- We use adverbs to say something about a verb (werkwoord)

1. an adverb can describe an adjective.

This is a very long stick.

2. an adverb can describe another adverb.

Car = noun

So we use an adjective = beautiful

Says something about the way she spoke.

To speak = verb = adverb = softly

Describes a whole sentence.

Adverb = unfortunately. 

Irregular adverbs

We also have some irregular adverbs. You need to know these by heart.

You can find them in your book on page 139.

For example:

He plays the piano goodly.                                       

He plays the piano well.              

And please don't do this....

               He plays the piano good.                                                   That's a well boy! 

        

but do this!
