§ 4.2 DISTANCES

Last lesson you've learned a lot, in § 4.1 LINES.

Do you really KNOW and UNDERSTAND it?

To help you out, let's do a few Activities about § 4.1.

ACTIVITY 1:

- get your pencil + geo triangle

- open your Notebook

- make a PAIR of PARALLEL LINES

ACTIVITY 2:

- get your pencil + geo triangle

- make a PAIR of PERPENDICULAR LINES

Let's have a close look at a more difficult exercise.

Answer question 7a in the next slide.

Choose one pair of parallel sides.

Which sides are PARALLEL ?

Think hard about 7b now!

- You will see how to measure the DISTANCE from a POINT and a LINE.

- You will see how to measure the DISTANCE from a LINE to another LINE .

- NOTE: you don't have to understand or know all of it right away,
   however watching the following slides carefully will certainly help you

   when doing § 4.2 Distances, later!

Practice this yourself, now! (1)

- Take your GEO tringle and a pencil in your hand.

- Open your Notebook.

- Draw a straight line n and a point R.

- Place your GEO as in the THEORY above and

- Draw a line segment from the Line to the Point.

- Measure the distance from Line to Point and 

- Write this in your Notebook.

Practice this now (2):

- Draw two Parallel Lines, as you learned in §4.1.

- Choose the Distance between both lines yourself.

- Measure the Distance between the two lines and

- Write this down, next to your drawing.
