Negative sentences

1. zinnen met simple present

om een ontkenning te maken in de simple present kies je tussen don't en doesn't, hierna komt het hele werkwoord (dus geen vervoeging)

I like books.                   - I don't like books.

She listens to music.     - She doesn't listen to music.    

Negative sentences

2. zinnen met simple past

om een ontkenning te maken in de simple past gebruik je didn't, hierna komt het hele werkwoord (dus geen vervoeging)

I watched TV.                     - I didn't watch TV.

They thought about it.      - They didn't think about it. 

Negative sentences

3. zinnen met 'to be' 

Gebruik am not, is not (isn't), are not (aren't), was not (wasn't) of were not (weren't)

We are late.             - We aren't late.

He was talking.      - He wasn't talking. 

Negative sentences

4. zinnen met meerdere werkwoorden

^{Voeg 'not' toe aan het eerste hulpwerkwoord om een ontkenning te maken.} 

You have been studying.      - You haven't been studying.

It will snow tomorrow.         - It won't snow tomorrow.
