  1. They both had to move and dislike where they live now.  They share the same birthday. However, Bruno is still together with his family while Shmuel isn't. And they both moved by train, but Shmuel wasn't allowed to leave the carriage. 
  2. He doesn't explicitly answer this question. He just explains about the David Star he had to wear, the things which were taken away from him and how he got to the camp. 
  3. He is probably afraid of the camp guards.
