Regelmatige werkwoorden: krijgen in de VT -ed als uitgang

Voorbeeld: Yesterday they played football.

Onregelmatige werkwoorden:  veranderen van vorm en klank in de VT. Daar is geen vaste regel voor (uit het hoofd leren)

Voorbeeld: Last Saturday I saw a great movie in the cinema.

Few/ little = weinig

Little => ontelbare woorden (little time)

A few / a Little = een paar/ een beetje

Some / Any = wat/ een aantal / enige

Some: gebruik je in bevestigende zinnen.

Voorbeeld: There are some people over there.

Any: gebruik je in vragende en ontkennende zinnen.

Adjectives

Zoals je weet bestaat er in het Engels een vaste woordvolgorde: wie / doet / wat / waar / wanneer.

 

He - watched - a film - on television - last weekend.

Wie - doet - wat - waar - wanneer

Je kunt ook een adjective (bijvoeglijk naamwoord) aan een zin toevoegen. Een adjective zegt iets over het zelfstandig naamwoord. Je zet ze dan voor het zelfstandig naamwoord.

He watched a funny film.

They bought a lovely dress.

We had a good time.

Soms zet je een adjective achter het werkwoord. In dat geval geeft de adjective extra informatie over het onderwerp. 

Dit kan bij werkwoorden zoals to be, look, appear en seem.

  

She looks amazing in my new dress.

I am curious to see that new film.

They seem focussed on their singing careers.

My friends have a ... hide-out place.

This ... comedy in set in Los Angeles in 1990.

She is ...! She makes so many jokes.

The ... Harry Potter movies was the best.
