Uitzonderingen
Het voltooid deelwoord van onregelmatige werkwoorden heeft zijn eigen vorm.

Voor datgene in de zin dat het eerst gebeurde -> past perfect.
Voor datgene in de zin dat daarna gebeurde -> past simple.
How/Form
Past simple: werkwoord + ed
Past perfect: Had + past participle (voltooid deelwoord).
Examples
The train had just left when you arrived.
She hadn't eaten anything before she went to bed.
