- Je gebruikt P.C. om aan te zeggen dat iets in het verleden een tijd duurde of aan de gang was

- was/were + hele ww + ing

-Most of the guests were dancing

Past continuous - spelling

1. Ww eindigt op -e = weglaten. To lose --> losing

2. Ww eindigt op medeklinker + 1 klinker = verdubbelen. To run     --> running. behalve bij een W of X (to snow --> snowing)

3. Ww eindigt op -ie = y. To die --> dying

Verschil past simple/continuous

Past simple = iets is in het verleden gebeurd, vaak simpele feitjes of acties. I climbed a mountain

Past continuous benadrukt dat de actie in het verleden een tijdje duurde. Vaak terwijl er nog iets anders gebeurde

Signaalwoorden 

Waar kan ik de past simple/continuous (meestal) aan herkennen?

Past simple: when, yesterday, last week, last year, three days ago, a long time ago, in 1989, etc.

Past continuous: while, at the same time.
