What do you remember from the last lesson?

The start

• 10th of May 1940: Germany attacks the Netherlands.
• 14th of May 1941: Germany bombs Rotterdam (Bombardment of Rotterdam)
• 15th of May 1940: The Netherlands surrenders (capitulation).

Government in Exile

• Queen Wilhelmina fled to England on the 13th of May 1940. 
• Government in Exile (= regering in ballingschap). 
• Wilhelmina (and others) broadcasts on Radio Oranje

New Government

• Arthur Seyss-Inquart became the leader of the government.
• First he gently tried to win the Dutch over to National Socialism.
• This changed after the February Strike in 1941.

NSB

• Nationaal Socialistische Beweging.
• The leader is Anton Mussert.
• They collaborate with Germany.

Collaboration

• A small amount of people worked together with the Germans. They had done the wrong thing.

Resisting

• Active resistance: Hiding people, printing/distributing illegal newspapers, forge identification cards, attacks. 
• Passive resistance: Reading illegal newspapers, listening to Radio Oranje.
