  • For example, Right now I am teaching the students in the classroom.
  • Used for temporary or new habits (longer period of time = present simple)
  • For example, He's eating a lot these days
  •  Definite future arrangements (= you have a plan and are sure that it will happen)
  • For example, I'm meeting my best friend this Friday

  • A state of affairs is described as being relative to the present time
  • In other words, something that started in the past but is still relevant in the present. (Signal words: just, already, yet; for and since)
  • For example, I have lived in the Netherlands for over thirty-five years.
  • Look whether you can use the word 'al' in your translation to Dutch.
  • For example, Ik woon al meer dan vijfendertig jaar in Nederland.

  • Is used to show several completed actions that took place at a specific time in the past
  • I finished work, walked to the beach, and found a nice place to swim.
  • Regular verbs: [verb] + [ed]
  • Irregular verbs: study! You can find a list in Google Classroom.
