Gerund

A verb becomes a noun

Can you tell me what that means? 

These are not the same!

I like watching movies.

I hate running.

I prefer walking over cycling.

These are not the same!

I am watching a movie.

I am running.

We are walking to the city centre instead of cycling.

What is the infinitive? 

I want to volunteer at the community centre.

To + infinitive

To + hele werkwoord

(to dance, to laugh, to talk, to work) 

Pay attention to: 

want, promise, decide, plan, hope, ask, refuse, expect
