Past simple
  • Om te vertellen over iets wat er in het verleden gebeurd is, gebruiken we de past simple.

  • Je ziet dan vaak tijdsaanduidingen in de zin als:
yesterday, last week, in 2010, last summer, etc.

  • Voor het werkwoord “zijn” (be):
I, he, she, it was / wasn’t. Question: Was she there last week?
you, we, they were / weren’t. Question: Were they there last week?

  • Voor het werkwoord “kunnen” (can):
zelfde vorm: I could play yesterday. She couldn’t dance. Could they cook?

Past simple met andere werkwoorden
  • Bij andere werkwoorden (dan can / be) gebruiken we een andere vorm voor de past.

  • Bij gewone zinnen komt er bij de meeste ww - ed achter het werkwoord:
I worked yesterday. I talked to him last week.

  • Sommige werkwoorden zijn onregelmatig (zie lijst Classroom):
I slept last night. I sang a song last week.

  • Bij vragen gebruiken we “did” + hele werkwoord:
Did you see the film? Yes, I did. Did they cook yesterday? No, they didn’t.

  • Bij ontkenningen gebruiken we “didn’t” + hele werkwoord:
I didn’t tidy my room. He didn’t work last weekend.

Write down 2 things you want to know more about.

Slide 15 - Open question

Here, students enter two things they would like to know more about. This not only increases involvement, but also gives them more ownership.
Ask 1 question about something you haven't quite understood yet.

Slide 16 - Open question

The students indicate here (in question form) with which part of the material they still have difficulty. For the teacher, this not only provides insight into the extent to which the students understand/master the material, but also a good starting point for the next lesson.
