How?
  • Student A&B get roleplay cards, with hints you can use in the conversation 
  • Student B stands in front of the table with bags, phone cases, etc., but you cannot look at the items before we start!
  • Student A has to pick an item - this is the item you lost. Put a green paper in the item, student B that's how you check if you got the correct item!

How?
  • Student A has to ask for help, you lost something, and you hope someone found it. Explain what you lost, and how.
  • Student B ask Student A to describe the item. You can use the lost item form to take notes. Ask questions, you need information and details!
  • Student A describe the item using the vocabulary we learnt this lesson - think size, shape, material, pattern, don't forget color, brand, and other details you can think of!
  • Student B After you have all the information, check the table and choose the correct item > "Is this what you lost?"
  • Student A say yes or no, if it's no, discuss what you can do better as a duo the next round and switch roles.

Strategies
Lost? Don't know a word?
  • Use hand gestures, signaling, miming 
  • Explain, or use other words that mean the same thing
  • Ask your classmate (or teacher/native speaker) "I can't remember the word, can you help me?"
  • Use filler words (uhm, okay, alright, you know, it's kind of like...)
    > daarmee geef je jezelf iets meer tijd om te bedenken hoe je verder gaat.
  • Check the roleplay cards for hints. 
  • Mistakes are okay! You can't grow and learn
    without making mistakes :)
