Can you already name some tips and tricks for listening?

Tips and tricks:
  • In the case of multiple-choice questions, there is always one ridiculous answer
  • Read all answers before answering; when in doubt listen again.
  • Practice listening by watching BBC, CNN or any other English speaking newssource, Netflix, music, etc.
  • The more you listen to the English language the easier a listening exercise will get ("kilometers maken").
  • Make sure you are well-rested before your test. So go to bed early the day before!

How to answer questions?
  1. Read the question and answers first.
  2. Mark or write down important words.
  3. Listen carefully. (It helps to close your eyes)
  4. Answer the question. Make sure you always write something down!

Luister strategieën 
  • Globaal luisteren: het volgen van de grote lijn van wat de spreker te vertellen heeft, weinig focus op de details van het verhaal.

  • Intensief luisteren: naast de grote lijn ook proberen alle details van het verhaal te horen om zo een volledig beeld te krijgen.

  • Kritisch luisteren: bij het kritisch luisteren probeer je tijdens het luisteren ook een mening te vormen over het verhaal.

  • Gericht luisteren: dit doe je als je geïnteresseerd bent in een bepaald onderdeel van het verhaal.
