• Chromosomes are visible during cell division
• Human: 46 chromosomes.
• Every body cell contains 46 chromosomes
• Body cells in: legs, brain, stomach, fingers, etc.
• Other organisms have different amounts

Lots of base pairs together form genes

A base pair is made of 2 pieces, these are called bases.

T and A form a pair

C and G form a pair

Other pairs do not exist in DNA.

DNA is shaped like a ladder.

The ladder is built by using lots of  base pairs.

A gene is the genetic code for a certain trait/characteristic.
