Reading Strategies:

1. Skimming
2. Scanning
3. Close reading  

1. Skimming

• Quick reading for general overview/main ideas of text 
• To do: 

- Read title/headline

- Look at pictures/graphics/visuals 

- Read first and last sentence

2. Scanning

• Quick reading to find specific information in the text
• To do:

- Look closely at question, highlight important elements

- Look for specific word or synonym

- Look for numbers, capital letters, quotation marks etc.

3. Close reading

• Read the text slowly to find out what it says specifically
• To do: 

-  Highlight/underline

- Answer: what is the text saying? 

- FIND EVIDENCE!
