Compoud Sentences
Twee of meer eenvoudige zinnen verbonden door een coördinerend voegwoord (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so).
Elke zin is een onafhankelijke bijzin met een eigen onderwerp en werkwoord.

The sun sets, and the stars appear.
He was tired, but he continued working.

Complex sentences
Een hoofdzin plus een of meer bijzinnen.
De bijzin begint vaak met een ondergeschikt voegwoord (because, although, after, when, before).
De hoofdzin kan op zichzelf staan, de bijzin niet.
