Discuss the following statements. Say if you agree or not. Explain why.

a. In the future everything will be better than it is now.

b. I’m afraid of what the future will bring.

c. I have a very clear idea of what my future will be like.

Listening

When you want to understand a video, a podcast or any other spoken text the first thing to do is find the topic and the most important point the speaker wants to make. With videos you've got the advantage that you can see things. The way people talk and the words they stress can give you useful information. So, always listen and watch closely and stop the video/podcast if needed so that you can listen to it again.

You're going to watch and listen to stories about health, robots, fashion and astronauts. And in all of them you're going to practise finding the main topic and the key information.

Adverbs

Adverbs tell you how something is done:

How do patients see their doctor in the future?They see them remotely.

How do hospitals customise their walls? They customise them digitally.

There are exceptions, of course, but the simplest way to recognise an adverb is through the ending -ly. You mostly form an adverb by adding -ly to an adjective:

digital - digitally

frequent - frequently
