Reflexive pronouns (wederkerend voornaamwoord)

Reflexive pronouns worden gebruikt om te zeggen dat de persoon die de actie uitvoert, deze ook ondergaat.

Het onderwerp en het lijdend voorwerp zijn dezelfde persoon.

Je wast jezelf.

She made herself dinner.

I poured myself a drink.

We drove ourselves home.

Reciprocal pronouns (Wederkerig voornaamwoord)

Reciprocal pronouns worden gebruikt om een wederzijdse relatie uit te drukken. Wanneer 2 of meer mensen/dingen hetzelfde doen richting elkaar.

Het wederkerig vnw verwijst naar het onderwerp van de zin.

Johan en Pieter verdedigen elkaar.

They are talking to each other.

We will always love one another.
