Form	Verb (ww) + -ed

Past Simple 2/2

Verb ends in -e (like 'use')	add -d
Short verb ends in consonant-vowel-consonant (like 'plan')	Double consonant and add -ed
Verbs ending in vowel + y	Add -ed
Verb ends in consonant + y (like 'try')	Change 'y' into 'ie' and add -d
