Used to
We use 'used to' to talk about how things were. We can use it with action AND state verbs

I used to be happy and then I started working here.
We didn't use to be sad, but then we had to go to school.

Slide 25 - Slide

Would
  1. We use 'would' to talk about habits&actions that were different in the past
  2. We don't use it for past states and can only use it with action verbs .
  3. We avoid using 'would' for these situations in questions and negatives.

My mom would prepare a special lunch on Wednesdays.
My teacher would sing me songs

We were used to interrupting our teacher.

Slide 27 - Slide
