Reading strategies

- Predicting, Skimming, Scanning and Detailled

Look for specific information, usually within lay-out or titles etc.

Think of what you already know about the subject

Find out what specific paragraphs you need info from, and skip the rest

Read and understand the full text and it's meaning

Reading tips

1. Don't overthink it - Usually the most simple explanation is the right one.

2. Read the questions first - This helps you eliminate useless text.

3. Don't stay on one word or question too long - This will take away precious time! Skip it, and if you have time left, try again at the end.

4. Know your signal words - knowing words such as Never, ever, but, and, however, first of all etc, help you find answers more easily

5. Watch some Netflix - The easiest way to exand your vocab? Watch some shows or films with English subtitles turned on.
