Wat is skimmen?

1. De vraag lezen en het antwoord kiezen
2. raden wat het moeilijke woord zou kunnen betekenen
3. het eerst naar de tekst kijken zonder deze te lezen zodat je ongeveer weet waar de tekst over gaat
4. gericht zoeken naar de antwoorden op de vragen

Wanneer ga je scannen?

1. als je wil weten wat een woord betekent.
2. als je het antwoord op een vraag wil weten.
3. als je wilt weten wat er in de eerste en laatste alinea van een tekst staat.
4. als je wilt kijken naar de titel, kopjes en tussenkopjes.

Strategies for "Reading test"

1. TIP: Keep track of the time.
2. SKIMMEN: look at the title(s), pictures and lay-out. What do you already know about the subject? 
3. Difficult words: Try to understand difficult words by looking at the context. Read the sentences around the word. Does the word look like a word you already know? 
4. SCANNEN: Scan the text looking for a specific word, number or name. Look for capital letters if applicable. 
5. ELZA: Read the first and last line of the paragraph.
   
6. Close reading: read word by word, line by line, to find the answer to the question. 
7. Remember!! The answer is always in the text!
