1492: Spain won the Reconquista. Spanish King Ferdinand + Queen Isabella financed Christopher Columbus to discover new routes to the Indies.

Columbus went west across the Atlantic because of the conviction of scholars like cartographer Toscanelli.

After portugese discovery of the Moluccas (Molukken), the Spanish began to have doubts about the treaty: Possible to sail west and reach the Islands from the other side? Then the Moluccas would be Spanish possession!

Portugese navigaton Ferdinand Mallegan sailed from Seville and tried in order of German/Spanish king Charles V (Karel V).

Mallegans' journey took him around the world. Magellan himself didn't survive the journey as he was killed.

Aztecs were indigenous people in Mexico. They were a developed civilization with an active trade and cities. Their leader 'Montezuma' was considered a god.

In 1519 they came into contact with Conquistador Hernan Cortes who was also considered a god by Aztecs.

Cortes conquered the Aztecs with the help of rival tribes and military force.

The Incas were a civilization from the Andes region from Ecuador to Chile. 

The Incas ruled their empire from the administrative centre of Cusco with the help of couriers who traveled paved roads.

They were ruled by the Inca who was seen as a incarnation of their sun god 'Inti'. At the time this was 'Atahualpa'.
