What do you always have to do?

  • Always take a notebook with you to class. 
  • Write down the grammar rules in your notebook.
  • Write other important stuff in your notebook.

No notebook (or an empty one) means that you've forgotten your work.


Create a vocabulary list at the end of your notebook. This broadens your vocabulary and help you remember more.

10. Do the test
  • On your own:
- How do you see your personality? Tick the boxes. 
- Score the 8 statements about yourself;
  • In pairs:
- Discuss your personality with your classmate (in English). Do you agree with what your classmate is saying about him/herself?
  • In the classroom:
- I'll randomly select 2 or 3 students to answer the question in class.

11. Find out the meaning
  • On your own:
- Tick the words that you already know; (page 38)
- Write down the words that you don't know in your vocabulary list (notebook)
- Translate the words to Dutch;
- Highlight the words you think apply to yourself;

- Explain why you think you have one of those traits.

  • On your own:
- Read the Theme words again.
- Write them down in the correct category.  (page 39)

  • In pairs:
- Compare your answers with those of a classmate;

- Why is it negative or positive? Explain.

- Look at the pictures. (page 39)
- Write down two words that apply to each person.
- Use Theme words (page 38)

- We'll discuss the exercise together.

  • On your own:
- Tick the words in the box that you already know.
- Write down the words in your vocabulary list that you don't know.
- Translate the words.

- Compare your answers to a classmate's

15. Play the Game
  • On your own:
- Go to page 208 - Read step 1 through 4 of the strategy Studying Vocabulary with the Theme words. 
- Follow the steps using the Theme words (page 40 + page 38)
  • In pairs:
- Check how well you know the two blocks of Theme words by asking them 5 words from each block.
  • With 4 people
- Take turns choosing a piece of paper and read the words out loud. 
- The other group members have to write down the words correctly without using their books.
- Finished? Check spelling of all members. 1 point per correct answer.
- The person who scores seven points first, wins!

16. Do the puzzle
  • On your own:
- Read the descriptions. Each description matches a Theme word.
Fill in the correct Theme word into the puzzle (page 41)

  • In the classroom
- We'll go over the answers together
