After, teacher will choose three pairs to explain to the class what a setting is according to the video and why a setting is important for a story.

Write the beginning
Write the 5 elements of a story for either:
The Giver
Harry Potter

- character
- setting
- major events- a  problem - a  solution
- Plot
- imagery

Introduce your characters: using adjectives describe your characters
Describe the setting of the story: appealing to the 5 senses
A story always has a problem or conflict. What is the problem ? How is the problem affecting the characters
The problem is solved or it isn't, but there has to be a clear ending

Writing Task

Write a story  where you meet a boy or girl who is totally different from you, and yet you also have similarities that bring you together and you become friends.

Character: describe the other person, what are they like and what do they look like?
Setting: where did you meet? Will the story end in the same place?
Plot: what happens with the two of you? Where do you go and what do you do?
