These sentences are written in the present continuous tense:

1. I am practicing my routine.

2. They are rehearsing for the show.

3. The goalkeeper is diving to make a save.

• When exactly do we use this 'present continuous' tense? 
• If this is what the present continuous looks like, can you guess what the past continuous looks like? 
• When do you think we use the past continuous tense?

Past continuous

Find all the verbs(werkwoorden) and the subject(onderwerp) of each sentence.

• I was practicing my routine.
• They were rehearsing for the show.
• We were playing the match.
• The goalkeeper was diving.
• I was riding my horse.
• She was training for the competition.

Past continuous

Wat? 

Past continuous gebruik je om te zeggen dat iets in het verleden een tijd duurde of aan de gang was.

you / we / they + were +hele werkwoord-ing

Past continuous

Let op!

1) Als het werkwoord eindigt op een e, laat je die weg

to lose > losing 

to leave > ______

2) Als het werkwoord eindigt op een medeklinker met één klinker ervoor, verdubbel je de medeklinker. (niet bij werkwoorden die eindigen in -w of -x > fixing, snowing)

to run > running

to sit > _________

3) Als het werkwoord eindigt op -ie, verandert dat in -y

> to die > dying , to lie > lying
