Besides good and useful inventions, there have also been a lot of useless inventions.

Have a look at the following examples:

Chindogu

Chindogu is the Japanese art of useless inventions. You make a chindogu by combining two useful items. These inventions are silly gadgets that solve everyday problems. For example, a helmet with toilet paper on top so that you always have some available. Another one is a glue stick, but instead of glue, it has butter. Now you can easily apply butter to your bread.

WHO?	You work in pairs.

Step 1: Prepare to work together:

• Make arrangements how you like to work together:
  -  who does what?
  - how do you like to communicate? etc.
• Aks each other for help and feedback

Step 2: Get started:
Choose a useless invention and make sure you know why you chose this one. You can choose one from the 15 on this website: Nutteloze uitvindingen

Or you may come up with your own useless invention!

Step 2: Get started:
Answer the next three questions:

1. Why did you choose this invention?
2. How are you going to make people buy this (useless) product?
3. What information do people need, to buy your fantastic product?

Step 3: Create your commercial
Think about what you want to tell in your commercial.  Tell at least about:

• What the product looks like
• What can you use the product for?
• How does the product work?
• How much does the product cost?
• Why is it such a great invention?
• .............

Step 4: Get feedback
Show your commercial to another pair and ask them for feedback:

• What can you improve on your English?
• Did you divide the tasks well?
• Is the message clear?
• Would they buy the product, why or why not?
  Use all the feedback you got to improve your commercial
  You also give feedback on the product of the other pair, of course!
