Regel: Je gebruikt bezittelijke voornamen (possessive pronouns) om aan te geven dat iets van iemand is.

Drie soorten:

Soort 1: It is my idea.

Soort 2: It is mine.

Soort 3: It is an idea of mine.

Dit soort bezittelijk voornaamwoord heeft een zelfstandig naamwoord  erachter nodig.

Dit soort bezittelijk voornaamwoord kan alleenstaand in een zin gebruikt worden.

That dog is my friend.  --> The dog is mine.

That is her dress.   --> That dress is hers.

It was their idea.    --> the idea was theirs.

Dit soort bezittelijk voornaamwoord kan alleenstaand in een zin gebruikt worden.

Clair is my friend.  --> Clair is mine.

That is her dress.   --> That is hers.

we gebruiken 'its' altijd in soort 1

Voor dit soort bezittelijk voornaamwoord gebruik je zowel een zelfstandig voornaamwoord als de bezittelijke voornaamwoorden van 'soort 2'.

That dog is my friend.  --> The dog  is mine. --> That dog is a friend of mine.

That is her dress.   --> That dress is hers. --> That is a dress of hers.

It was their idea.    --> It was theirs. --> It was an idea of theirs.
