Like és As

Mindkettőt összehasonlításra használjuk, de praktikus őket külön fordítani, így:

          like = olyan, mint (de nem az!)

          as = valamiként (és tényleg az)

Például:

Attila can run like a cheetah. --> De ő nem gepárd, ugyebár.

She works as a receptionist. --> És tényleg az.

Ige alakja: Harmadik alak 

Használat:

1. Olyan múltbeli cselekvés, amikek van hatása a jelenre. Ezt sokszor nehezen ismerjük fel, de itt egy szemléletes példa: He has broken his leg, so he can't come to the party with us.

2. Épp most fejeződött be valami: 

I have just explained Present Perfect.

3. "Valaha" szónál: Have you ever tried lobster?

Egy problémás eset

Ezen igeidő megértése sokszor okoz gondot a tanulóknak.

A probléma ott kezdődik, hogy Present, tehát logikailag a jelent időkhöz tartozik, magyarul mégis múltnak fordítjuk (hiszen nekünk összesen 3 igeidőnk van, így fordításnál előfordulnak ilyen deszinkron helyzetek).

Emellett nehezen sokott menni annak ,egértése is, hogy ez mikor indokolt. Próbáljuk megérteni, hogy helyes ez is:

I bought a new XBox. (amennyiben pl beszélünk a múlt hétvégi eseményekről), de ez is:

I have bought a new XBox. (ha játékra invitáljuk a barátunkat).

Több jellegzetes időhatározó is van:

Already - már

Yet - még

Ever - valaha

Still - még, még mindig

Just - épp, épp most

Figyelj rá, hogy az "already" kijelentő mondatba megy, kérdésben "yet"-té változik!

Ráadásul az "already" elöl szeret lenni, míg a "yet" hátul :)

I have already eaten a sandwich.

Have you eaten a sandwich yet?

Just?

Figyelj, hogy a "just" előfordul Present Continuous-ban és Present Perfect-ben egyaránt. 

De nem összekeverendő, hiszen magyarul sem mindegy, hogy:

A: Épp most érkezem.

B: Épp most érkeztem.

At a job interview the interviewer said to the potential employee,

   ‘So I see here on your CV that you’ve had twelve jobs in the last three years.’

   ‘Oh yes,’ replied the candidate, ‘That’s right. I’ve had a lot of experience working in this area.’

   ‘Well, yes, you’ve worked for a lot of different companies, but you’ve never stayed with any employer for longer than three months.’ continued the interviewer, ‘To me, that gives the impression that you quit your jobs as soon as you get bored with them. Is this true?’

   ‘Oh no, that’s not how it is at all,’ answered the candidate, ‘I’ve never quit a job in my life.’
