After a regular verb you put '-ed'

She/He/It walked

Other Spelling Rules


We add -ed to verbs ending in vowel + -y

  • play - I played
    verb ends in -e, then add -d:
  • live - I lived
verb ends with a consonant + y....then -y changes to -ied:

  • carry - I carried

verb ends in consonant + vowel, then double the last letter and add -ed:

  • drop - I dropped

These words help you to see if something happened in the past
  • W:  when
  • A:   ago
  • L:   last
  • D:  days and dates
  • Y:   years
