Past perfect: 

Had + voltooid deelwoord 

Vb.

Bij regelmatige werkwoorden voltooid deelwoord eindigt op -ed. Onregelmatige werkwoorden hebben een eigen vorm.

Bevestigend: 

I had played a game.

They had done their work.

Ontkennend: 

I hadn't played a game.

They hadn't done their work. 

Vragend:  

Had I played a game? 

Had they done their work?

Past perfect continuous:

Had + been + werkwoord+ing

Vb.

Bevestigend: 

I had been waiting for hours. 

They had been working hard. 

Ontkennend: 

I hadn't been waiting for hours.

They hadn't been working hard.

Vragend:

Had I been waiting for hours? 

Had they been working hard?
