Goals of today

At the end of this lesson, you can put verbs in the present simple/continuous. 

At the end of this lesson, you can write two sentences in the present simple and two in the present continuous.

What is a verb?

Exceptions 

To be (zijn): (I am/you are/he, she, it is/ we are/you are).

Do: (I always do the dishes. She always does the dishes)

Have: (I have a great idea. He has a great idea).

Words that end in -ch -sh: 

These words get an extra ''e'' at the end.

I wash my clothes. My mother washes my clothes.

Remember 

It is not always clearly stated whether we're talking about "he, she, it, you, we, or they''.

The sentences will often use names to avoid using the words above.

De duurvorm in de tegenwoordige tijd noemen we in de Engelse taal de present continuous. Kijk bijvoorbeeld naar de volgende zinnen: Ik ben aan het sporten. We zijn aan het zingen. Ik sta te schreeuwen. Bram zit te gamen. Deze zinnen vinden allemaal NU plaats.

You make the present continuous with "am, are, is + verb + ing''.

You always need a form of to be before the verb!

- I am reading the newspaper right now.

- He is laughing at me at the moment.

- Do you hear that as well? She is waking up!

- Cynthia is currently cycling to school.
