Je gebruikt to be going to + hele ww als dingen vooraf al gepland zijn en als je een voorspelling doet met bewijs.

Als je zegt dat iets NIET gaat gebeuren gebruik je not/n't
  • You are not going to return that book to the library.
  • He isn't (is not) going to tell you.
  • I'm not (am not) going to do that.

Als je vraagt of er iets gaat gebeuren begint de zin met am / are / is:
  • Am I going to meet your sister?
  • Is George going to  do his homework?
  • Are we going to watch a movie tonight?

Je gebruikt will / shall + hele ww als dingen 
spontaan gebeuren / een belofte / een wens en als je een voorspelling doet zonder bewijs (bijvoorbeeld een mening). 
Shall + hele ww als je iets voorstellen (iets te vragen)
