Today, we'll move on to paragraph 2.3. It will be a short lesson, since you will make a new summary of this on your own. I will give you some time of the lesson as well to work on it.

Welcome to this lesson!
Today, we'll move on to paragraph 2.3. It will be a short lesson, since you will make a new summary of this on your own. I will give you some time of the lesson as well to work on it.

Lesson goals
You can explain what a herbivore is and what characteristics it has
You can explain what a carnivore is and what characteristics it has
You can explain what an omnivore is and what characteristics it has

2.3 Feeding time
Feeding = one of the seven characteristics of life
Your body needs it to make energy, so it can perform the necessary functions of life
Slide 4 - Slide
Three groups
However, not all animals eat the same..
Herbivores: only eat plants
Carnivores: only eat meat
Omnivores: eat both meat and plants
Slide 5 - Slide
There are a few more..
Herbivores: only eat plants
Carnivores: only eat meat
Omnivores: eat both meat and plants
Insectivores: only eat insects
Detritivores: eat dead material (can also be grouped with the omnivores, since the dead material can be plant or animal)
Slide 6 - Slide
We will only focus on the first 3!
Herbivores: only eat plants
Carnivores: only eat meat
Omnivores: eat both meat and plants
The bodies of these three types of animals are quite different, since they have different needs to be able to eat and digest their food.
To digest = verteren
Slide 7 - Slide
Where are the main differences?
Teeth: The next slide will contain a videos about the differences in teeth. Pay close attention!
Intestines : Try to figure out these differences for yourself with use of your textbook. Write them down!
Intestines = darmen
Slide 8 - Slide
Slide 9 - Video
What are the differences in the teeth?
Slide 10 - Open question
What are the differences in the intestines?
Slide 11 - Open question
Again.. That was it!
Now it's your turn..
Slide 12 - Slide
Making a summary in biology
Now it's time to show me what you can do!
Make a summary of paragraph 2.3, like we practiced with 2.1 and 2.2
This will also be homework, make sure you have finished it before the next lesson.
Done? Email it to m.cuijpers@stichtinglvo.nl
Slide 13 - Slide
What will we do next?
After 2.3, we will stop with Chapter 2.
Since we only have a short time left, we will move on to paragraph 3.1 and 3.2 and then hopefully have some time left to do something else (that will involve going outside!)
This means that for a test (in the testweek or something), you will not have to learn the rest of Chapter 2 (just 2.1, 2.2, 2.3)
Slide 14 - Slide
Homework
Finish your summary of 2.3
Email it to m.cuijpers@stichtinglvo.nl (I still don't have access to itslearning..)
