standard - verb + ed (work - worked)
1) consonant+ y = > ied (married)
2) vowel+y => ed (played)
3) short word, ends with 1 vowel + 1 consonant =
double last consonant (hug - hugged)
4) -e => d (hated)
5) vowel + L => led (cancelled)
