"Some and "Any" both mean:

Een kleine proportie van iets

(een beetje, iets, enkele)

So... When do you use Any and when do you use Some?

Any is used for: 

• negative sentences   

I don't like any type of sports 

There isn't any bread left.

• questions

Are there any people here?

is there any bread left?

Some is used for "normal" sentences

• (Just the sentences that are left)

• When you are just stating something (neutral)

I bought some apples at the store

• when saying something positive

I like some artists on SoundCloud.

I have lost ____ earrings.

1. some
2. any

There isn't ____ food left.

1. some
2. any

Ofcourse... there are exceptions

(uitzonderingen)

Exception 1.

For questions you know will be answered with yes: 

you use some instead of any.

  

Can I have some coffee? 

(Yes you can)

Can I buy some muffins? 

(yes you can)

als je een vraag stelt en hierbij naar een hoeveelheid van iets vraagt

Are you going to borrow some money?

Did you drink some milk?

Did you buy ___ butter?

Make a full sentence with
"some" or "any"

"Something" and "anything"...

are used in the exact same way. 

"Something"

Betekenis: specifiek iets, maar je weet niet wat/ het is onduidelijk wat"

• "normal" and positive sentences
• questions you expect to be answered with "yes"

I bought something yesterday.

Can I ask you something?

"Anything"

Betekenis: elk ding,  iets, maar het maakt niet echt uitwat

• Negative sentences
• questions 

Do you know anything?

I'm so hungry, I can eat anything right now.
