uitleg 1:

PAST = verleden tijd

past simple: simpele verleden tijd 

voorbeeld: I closed the door. (kort)

past continuous: doorgaande verleden tijd

voorbeeld: We were dancing to the beat. (duurt een tijdje)

Regelmatig: werkwoord + ed

walk --> walked, carry --> carried, stop --> stopped

Onregelmatig: uit je hoofd leren

catch --> caught, go --> went, write --> wrote enz.

Hoe maak je de past simple?

past continuous

was of were + werkwoord + ing

I was playing a video game when he texted me.

was + play + ing

They were driving to Utrecht when their car broke down.

were + drive + ing

Hoe maak je de past continuous?

Vervoeg de zin met de past simple:


I ... (enjoy) the sun last Sunday.

1. enjoyed
2. enjoy
3. was enjoying
4. were enjoying

Vervoeg de zin met de past continuous:

I ____ (to walk) down the road when a car hit me.

1. walked
2. was walking

Past Simple & Past Continuous in één zin (1)

Past Simple = korte gebeurtenis in het verleden

Past Continuous = langere gebeurtenis in het verleden

Past Simple & Past Continuous in één zin (2)

Voorbeeld zin:

''We were dancing until the music suddenly stopped.''

Were dancing = langere gebeurtenis = past continuous

Stopped = korte gebeurtenis = past simple
