The original Bond

• Ian Flemming was born in 1908, after rocky school career he ends up as a journalist in 1931
• From 1939-1944 he works as an assistant for the intelligence agency(spy stuff)
• In 1952, the first Bond book is published, till his death in 1964 he writes 12 more books and sees the movies come to life.

The Dutch connection

• Erwin Tazelaar, a Dutch ´engelandvaarder´ forms the inspiration for one of the most iconic Bond scenes
• During WWII Tazelaar was to infiltrate the Netherlands, and to do so he had to wear a smoking on the beach 
• Tazelaar is also famous for his role in
  The Soldier of Orange

What does 007 teach us about the Brits?

• The ultimate British gentlemen, sharply dressed, well spoken but also a bit old-fashioned
• Stiff Upper Lip
• Prides himself in being British, and being the best
• Values pride, honour and sacrifice

Is James Bond still a role model or has he become to old fashioned?

The Cars of Bond

• Bond´s most famous set of wheels is the Aston Martin DB5
• Aston Martin was founded in 1913
• But it wasn´t always the case, between 1973 and 2005 Bond cheated on his faithfull DB5
• Daniel Craig the one to full reintroduce the Aston
