Slide 15 - Slide
KEY TERMS:
If circumstances are ideal a population will have exponential growth, this means it doubles every generation, so 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 etc. This goes on till the population reaches the carrying capacity.
carrying capacity
exponential
growth
population starts growing
Slide 16 - Slide
LIMITING FACTORS:
When a population reaches the carrying capacity, the growth of the population is slowed down by the limiting factors:
oxygen
toxic waste
overcrowding
predators
disease
climate
lack of shelter
Slide 17 - Slide
POPULATION RESEARCH:
When researching plants your always use a quadrat by calculating a percentage cover.
When reaserching animals you use the mark, capture and release method.
