Aan het einde van de les

kan ik zinnen vragend en negatief maken.

'to be'

1. You ... very attractive.

2. They ... always very nice to me.

3. My sister ... happy.

4. I ... fond of cats. 

5. Jim and John ... best friends.

ja/nee-vragen

Zoals de naam al zegt, zijn ja/nee-vragen, vragen die je met ja of nee kunt beantwoorden.

Are you in my class? - Yes, I am.

Can you get me a drink? - No, I can't. 

ja/nee-vragen met am, are, is en can

Wanneer am, are, is of can in de zin staat, kun je een vraagzin maken door am, are, is en can  vooraan in de zin te zetten. 

They are the students.                               - Are they the students?

She is really nice.                                          - Is she really nice?

I can eat a lot of food.                                 - Can I eat a lot of food?

We can go to the cinema.                         - Can we go to the cinema?

Ja/nee-vragen met andere werkwoorden

Je gebruikt do of does om een vraagzin te maken met alle andere werkwoorden. 

Na do of does komt de persoon/personen, en dan het hele werkwoord.

Bijvoorbeeld:

• Do you like to play a game?
• Do they walk with the dog often?
• Does she like them?
• Does it have tentacles?

Ontkenningen (not/n't)

In een ontkennende zin staat in het Engels het woordje not of n't in de zin. Bij am, are, is en can krijg je dan:

• They are the students.              - They are not/aren't students.
• She is really nice.                         - She is not/isn't nice.
• I can eat a lot of food.                - I cannot/can't eat a lot of food.
• We can go to the cinema.       - We cannot/can't go to the cinema. 

Ontkenningen (don't/doesn't)

Als je wilt zeggen dat iets niet zo is, gebruik is don't of doesn't. Deze twee komen tussen de persoon en het werkwoord.

Bijvoorbeeld:

• I have a dog.                                            - I don't have a dog.
• We like that teacher.                            - We don't like that teacher.
• He likes coffee.                                      - He doesn't like coffee.
• It wags its tail.                                        - It doesn't wag its tail.
