Slide 11 - Slide

This is a sculpture by an artist called Anthony Gormley. It was finished in 1998 and it’s called The Angel of the North. It is characterised by its post-industrial style.
This is a satirical artwork by an artist called William Hogarth, it was finished in 1751 and it is called Gin Lane. Hogarth aimed to criticise the widespread alcoholism in London at the time.
This is a landscape (painting) by an artist called John Constable. He painted pictures of bucolic scenes intended to show the beauty of rural England. This particular painting is called Wivenhoe Park and he finished it in 1816.
This painting is of a boat in the sea. It is called The Slave Ship and it was finished in 1840 by an artist called JMW Turner. He is known for his impressionistic style and loose brushstrokes.

This is a controversial piece of modern art by an artist named Damien Hirst. It was finished in 1991 and is called The Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living.
This is called Oberon, Tatiana and Puck with Fairies Dancing. It was painted by William Blake who is famed for both his poetry and painting. This is a scene from William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He completed it in 1786.
